It would be pretty safe to pick Lorena as the winner of the LPGA's first major. She's really hot with 2 wins already in only 3 starts.

Annika will fight to the finish on this one - she has something to prove.

Defending champion, Morgan Pressel is really not a contender IMHO - she's had a tough start this year with only 1 top ten. And her missed cut at last week's Safeway International probably did a number on her confidence as well. But we see all the time a winner one week miss the cut the next, so hey...maybe the reverse can happen too.

My dark horse pick...Cristina Kim. She's one focused lady this year after missing the Solheim Cup team last year because of mediocre play. I'd love to see her take it.

It's hard to see beyond the obvious excellence of Lorena Ochoa. Lorena's had problems on this course but she's got some serious momentum going which will probably help counteract any lingering demons at Mission Hills. She looks like a sure bet. Nonetheless, as I always do, I'm going out on a limb here. I'm going with defending champion Morgan Pressel.

Despite her recent struggles and missed cut misadventures, i think she's ready (and waiting) to jump into that pond again. She knows she plays this course well. That'll help her, confidence-wise. And she's going to need that confidence too. She's set to play the first two rounds with Lorena.

Ochoa, Sorenstam and Pressel are all good picks. Plus, don't count out Paula Creamer.

But watch out for Karrie Webb. Maybe it's just that Peter Lonard has me in an Australian mood, but I think Karrie's hungry and ready for another major.

Lorena has to be the heavy favorite. She may win more events this year than she did last year.
Keep an eye on Lindsey Wright, however. She has been posting some great rounds in every event this year so far and she could put it all together out in Rancho Miarage.

It seems quite obvious that Lorena is heading to another Victory; we all need to wait to see if she can achieve good tees, and of course a few eagles wouldnt be bad. For what I have seen in all the tournaments Lorena has been part of, her level of Golf knowlede has improving. And I see her as a No. 1 in Women Golf for a long, long, time. Go Lorena!

This may be Lorena's year. So far, 3 starts, 2 wins. She's red hot right now. I wouldn't be surprised if 2008 turned out for Lorena like 2005 did for Annika.

I like Mi Hyun Kim because if how straight she hits her drives and she a great putter. I also like Annika because she is solid this year and probally wants to prove herself again.

I dont think Pressel will even get close to defending, she has not been really solid this year.

My dark Horse Laura Davies, she has been playing better and the drive to get to the hall of fame will drive her.

The question now is, will Lorena complete the grand slam this year? At this rate, she just might do that. So far, she's on a record breaking season, and it's only just begun.
